Voting.

What ever system of voting is used it must be cheap, verifiable, and accessible to everyone so I've looked at all the various options available and the one I'm proposing is Public Houses for the voting stations for the following reasons.

  1. they have the room
  2. common in most communities
  3. in public view
  4. no cost
  5. this is a community building project and the local is a community feature

The landlords that I've spoken to are all for it, I sold it to them on the basis of more people coming through the door equals more potential customers (restrictions on voting times like busy nights but that is easily accommodated).

Costs are kept to the minimum i.e. voting slips and posters (initial quotes indicate less than 2p per vote) what ever happens the voting system should remain in public control.

  1. Residents to register with their voting station to establish that they are residents of that village.
  2. on voting they will sign in and given a voting slip to complete and place in ballot box.
  3. Counting to be done in public view by registered voter/s.
  4. The tally to be faxed/emailed to agreed third party who will add the totals (with witness/s) and
  5. fax/email me with the result.
  6. Voting slips and fax/emails to be kept to enable verification at a later date.
  7. Results published in each voting station and the local papers.
