Please comment on the call for a DEMOCRATIC voice for the public.
Parties have "developed", with the advent of mass media, into a means of electing an ideology with little regard to who the individual is that is being elected. Party selection of candidates means that "clones" that will obey 'the masters voice' are chosen, the consequence of which is, that when it comes to the vote they will toe the line, and if they don't, the 'whips' will be cracked. The solution is in the hands of the electorate, if they voted for an independent that "sung their tune", at least they would be starting with someone with guts. The sleaze that is associated with politics, comes with the protection of the party, without that protection politics would be much cleaner. Changing the means of voting will not change the way that parties operate, but it would give considerable support to an independent
who had the backing of the electorate when it came to the vote. |
