OBJECTIVES
Founded: January 1998
Is a co-ordinating body for local
groups concerned for the natural environment and wildlife
It aims to increase
awareness and involvement in the preservation of Thanet's flora and fauna and
habitats by:
- Highlighting activities, events and
concerns
- Providing information, research,
comment, proposals and feedback on conservation matters
- Promoting sustainable land use and
nature conservation through-out the area.
- Helping to identify and protect
amenity land and publicise achievements
- Informing and monitoring the local
planning process
- Advising on funding sources and
other support for specific projects
- Working in partnership with all
sectors of the local community including businesses and Thanet District and
Parish Councils.
- Working towards producing a Nature
Conservation Strategy in relation to the Kent Biodiversity Plan
It is represented on the Thanet Local
Agenda 21 Steering Group 'Towards a Sustainable
Thanet'
